LJI Updates and InformationWelcome all -

We (the entire LJI family) are excited to welcome our students back to school. Over the summer we
have hired new staff, set the instructional focus with campus leaders, undergone multiple
construction projects, hosted summer athletic and band camps, and hosted summer school for
grades 7-12; but through all of this, August 18th is what we have been waiting for.

MEET THE TEACHER: August 16th
7th GR students (5:30 - 6:30)
8th GR students (7:00 - 8:00)
During Meet the Teacher you and your
student will have the opportunity to -
1) Meet the LJI Leadership Team
2) Take fun pictures with an LJI backdrop
3) Join LJI PTO
4) Buy LJI Spirit Shirts
5) Turn in shot records (if needed)
6) Make edits in Parent Portal (if needed)
7) Pay Fines & Fees (if needed)
8) Receive student’s schedule (if clear with
shot records and fines)
9) Walk the building & locate classes
10) Meet with the PE teachers & coaches
*Please note - Credit cards are the only form of
payment available.
FIRST DAY PROCEDURES:
7th GR car rider drop off & pick up on gym side
(The east side of the building, enter off of Circle
Way)
8th GR car rider drop off & pick up at the front
(Enter the line off of Oyster Creek Drive)
Morning Arrival -
Students may enter the building starting at 7:00
with the first bell at 7:25 and the tardy bell at
7:30.
7th GR will report to the gym where they can
eat breakfast and wait until the 7:25 bell.
8th GR will report to the cafeteria where they
can eat breakfast and wait until the 7:25 bell.
Afternoon Dismissal -
For safety reasons, with a building of almost
900 students, dismissal will be staggered and
based on building location.
STUDENT CHROMEBOOK DEPLOYMENT:
LJI teachers will deliver instruction the first
days of school in a manner that will not require
your student to have a chromebook.
7th GR Chromebook deployment during class
on August 24th
8th GR Chromebook deployment during class
on August 25th
Make up Chromebook deployment during class
on August 26th
FALL PICTURES:
7th GR Pictures - August 31st
8th GR Pictures - September 1st
7th GR and 8th GR Makeups - October 12th
Details will be shared with students and parents
later this month.
PTO OPPORTUNITIES:
August 16th - PTO Membership Drive
LJI PTO members will be on campus at Meet
the Teacher Night with more information about
membership and volunteer opportunities.
Membership dues - $5.00
Parental involvement is just as crucial during
your child’s Intermediate years as it was during
their Elementary and Middle School years. “A
school that has an actively engaged PTO
benefits greatly. They fundraise and are the
leaders in many activities, and ultimately do the
things that make school fun.”

SCHEDULE CHANGE PROCEDURES:
No schedule changes will be made the first
week of school.
A google form with instructions will be released
to the Student’s “Counselor Google Classroom”
on August 25th and remain open for change
request until 5pm August 27th. This however
does not mean the change will be made. Grade
Level Counselors will work with individuals to
honor requests while working within TEA
guidelines and class availability.
