LJI  Parents and Students!

Starting Monday, May 18-22, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,  we will have opportunities for students and parents to pick up personal items left in lockers, return library books, and return Chromebooks and chargers. We understand that there is a lot of information, but we truly appreciate you taking the time to read through it to ensure that everyone's experience is as quick and smooth as possible.

We ask that you adhere to the grade-level pick-up schedule below to help us continue practicing social distancing and keep everyone healthy and safe.

If you have students in multiple grades, you can return them all on one of the days.

Procedures:
  • Prior to your timeslot, please complete the Student Chromebook Checklist (attached in the email).  Have it completed and ready to hand in with your Chromebook; this will expedite the process.  If you cannot print, please ask for one upon arrival to complete; bring a pen with you to complete the form.
  • Please enter the front drive from Oyster Creek Drive (like a typical drop-off/pick-up).
  • Refer to the map below (and attached) for the drop-off/pick-up route.  Stations 2-5 are optional, only if applicable to students.
  • Parents and students must remain in the car for Stations 1, 2, and 5.
  • Students may not participate in drop-offs/returns on a bike or on foot. S/He must be in a vehicle with a guardian, parent, and/or older sibling.

Station 1:
  • Please do not park, but move through the drive, and we will assist you as you approach the building.  Numbered cones will also be out to indicate where to pull up.
  • Please help us by writing your student’s first and last name on a piece of paper and placing it on the passenger side of your windshield when you pull into the drive.   This will help us move the process along.
  • Remember to bring the Chromebook, charger cord, and HotSpot (if borrowed from the district).
    • You will complete a Student Chromebook Checklist form that we will provide to assist with the process (see attached form).  To save time, print and fill this out ahead of time and bring it with you.  Additional copies will be available on site.
    • Once the form is complete, you will hand the form, Chromebook, charger cord, and HotSpot (if borrowed) to a Clute staff member through your car window.
    • A staff member will go inside to retrieve a bag that has your student’s locker belongings in it, as well as any other items from their classes that needed to be returned.   Once your student’s items are brought out, please open the trunk for us to place them in the vehicle.
  • If your child has track uniforms and sweats, please place them in a plastic bag to also be collected during this time.

Station 2:
  • If you are a band, choir, or orchestra student, you will pull forward to this station, and one of our directors will assist in collecting the instrument and/or uniform.  If possible, please place the instrument and uniform in the trunk or backseat for an easy and quick grab.

Station 3:
  • Before you exit the parking lot, there will be a large green bin for students to drop off books that they have borrowed from the campus library or teacher libraries.

Station 4:
  • Any Construction Tech student who has a large project at school will need to pick up their project at the chained-link fence (facing Oak Drive)

Station 5:
  • If your student has ordered a yearbook or has medication to be picked up, you will turn right onto Oak Dr. and then turn right into our back parking lot/bus lane.

** All cars will make a right turn onto Oak Drive to expedite the flow of traffic. **

We sincerely appreciate your patience and flexibility during this time as we strive to honor everyone’s time to collect and return items to our LJI Panthers. Therefore, it is critical that these procedures are followed, so that we can take care of each of you in the most efficient and effective way. If you have any questions, please contact us at 979-730-7250

Please know that we are very blessed and appreciative of each of you during this unprecedented time.  Thank you again for your continued partnership during this school year!
