BISD Sends Eight to the State You Be The Chemist Challenge
The top ten students from BISD and other area districts advanced to the state competition recently. Eight of those ten advancing, along with the alternate, were students from Rasco Middle School, Lake Jackson Intermediate, and Freeport Intermediate. You Be The Chemist is a competition and program that celebrates and elevates the science of chemistry to inspire on-going study and careers. The YBTC Challenge provides:
Exposure to chemistry concepts in grades 5-8 - earlier than most US Students even begin studying chemistry
Connections with industry professionals to see how chemistry offers needed and fulfilling careers, and
Inspiration for girls and students of color who benefit most from having scientist role models and early science learning experiences.
We also want to thank the Dow ambassadors for coaching this event on campuses and to the teachers who sponsor YBTC clubs.
