Congratulations to LJI‘s two robotic teams - 7th grade RoboCats and 8th grade RoboPanthers. All their hard work paid off last weekend at the qualifier meet at Hogg Middle School in Houston. Both teams have successfully qualified for the next tournament level, the Texas South Regional Championship at the British International School. We are so proud of our students!
FIRST® LEGO® League, or FLL, introduces 9-14 year old students to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society.
Elementary and middle-school students get to:
Design, build, test and program robots using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® technology
Apply real-world math and science concepts
Research challenges facing today’s scientists
Learn critical thinking, team-building and presentation skills
Participate in tournaments and celebrations
Cheryl Wood LJI Robotics Coach said, “What FLL teams accomplish is nothing short of amazing. It’s fun. It’s exciting. The skills they learn will last a lifetime!”
A huge thank you goes to LJI Robotics sponsors, Mrs. Cheryl Wood and Mrs. Angela Brod, and to all our engineer mentors that work with our great LJI students.
