PANTHER READING TEAM
The Panther Reading Team is a reward system that helps to motivate and foster a lifelong enjoyment of reading. Reading outside of the school day improves vocabulary, fluency, reading stamina and comprehension, and writing skills. All of this will help your child in high school and beyond. Their are two ways to make the team so there is no reason not to join the Panther Reading Team. See the information sheet for more information about the points.
PANTHER READING TEAM (PRT) REQUIREMENTS:
First way to join the PRT:
You need 100 points to join the Panther Reading Team which must include the following six categories of books:
One Non-Fiction Book
One Biography/Autobiography Book
One Mosquito List Award Book
One Award Book from one of the following: Newbery, Bluebonnet, Lone Star, Coretta Scott King, or Maverick.
One Book each from Five of the Fiction Genres: Adventure, Classic, Dystopian, Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Horror, Humor, Mystery, Realistic, Science Fiction, Sports, Supernatural.
One Graphic Novel
Second way to join the PRT:
If you earn 200+ POINTS.
Tell Mrs. Rumsey in the library when you have met the requirements for the Panther Reading Team, OR need to check your Accelerated Reader (AR) progress.
All Panther Reading Team members will be invited to an End of the Year Celebration. See Mrs. Rumsey for details.
