After 10 years away, I am coming home to Brazosport ISD. I am extremely excited to be a part of the Panther Family. For the 12 years I was a classroom teacher, 11 were here locally at Freeport Intermediate School. I hold a bachelor’s degree in History along with a 6-12th grade social studies composite teaching certificate. During my time as a teacher, I mentored numerous student teachers and served in several leadership rolls. These experiences made me hungry for further opportunities to have an even greater impact and to take on additional leadership roles. Thus, I returned to the University of Houston – Clear Lake to earn my Master’s Degree in Educational Administration with a K-12 Principal certificate.
After graduating with my master’s degree, I took a job in Pearland ISD as the K-12 District Social Studies Specialist. This job gave me a wonderful opportunity to do more. During my ten years in PISD, I worked with teachers from 22 different campuses from grades K-12. As the K-12 District Specialist, I coordinated curriculum, assessment development, the disaggregation of local and state assessments, and I worked closely with teachers to develop meaningful remediation for all students.
However, I very much missed being with the students and the interactions with them on a daily basis. I missed seeing great teaching EVERYDAY; I missed the energy and the culture that can only be found on a campus full of students and teachers passionate about making every day count. So, I finally came back home - HOME to BISD and HOME to the Intermediate grade levels.
