Ten students from Lake Jackson Intermediate qualified last week as finalists for the National Geographic Bee held on Wednesday, January 18 in the Forum at LJIS. These students advanced after a preliminary round of testing of geography related questions given to the entire LJI student body. Congratulations goes to Joseph Dyess and Tanner Ross for taking first and second place in the championship contest.

Thousands of schools around the United States and in the five U.S. territories are participating in the 2017 National Geographic Bee.  The school champions, including Joseph Dyess, will take a qualifying test; up to 100 of the top scorers on that test in each state will then be eligible to compete in their state Bee on March 31, 2017.
