National Geopraphic Bee 2018 Contest

ImageTen students from Lake Jackson Intermediate School qualified last week as finalists for the National Geographic Bee held on​ February 2nd in the campus library. These students advanced after a preliminary round of testing of geography-related questions given to the entire LJI student body.

Congratulations goes to 7th graders Devin Sturgill and Katherine Strong for taking first and second place in the championship contest.

Thousands of schools around the United States and in the five U.S. territories are participating in the 2018​ National Geographic Bee. The school champions, including ​Devin Sturgill, have taken​ a qualifying test; up to 100 of the top scorers on that test in each state will then be eligible to compete in the ​State of Texas Geography ​Bee on April 8, 2018 in Bedford, Texas.
